Professional Learning
Our Professional Learning is all about supporting educators with essential AI literacy to build knowledge and gain experience. It is designed for educators, both in the classroom and informal education settings such as after-school programs, libraries, museums, etc.
We have structured our 2024 experiences so that everything builds from our foundational session, AI Fundamentals for Teaching & Learning. We then created two series: Skills and Tools in the Age of AI and AI Societal Impacts. Within each series there are three levels of learning - launchpad, growth, and mastery. We then add additional sessions including AI Teaching Materials. We strongly recommend that you attend the Fundamentals of AI in Teaching & Learning first to set yourself up for success on your journey

Professional Learning Session Descriptions
AI Fundamentals for Teaching & Learning
This session offers a foundation for artificial intelligence and its connection to teaching and learning. We aim to demystify AI and make it accessible for educational purposes. We'll start with the ABCs of AI, introduce some practical skills and tools, begin the discovery of how AI is reshaping various aspects of society and what that means for the future of education, and discuss the importance of AI literacy for students and how it prepares them for an AI-embedded future. Whether you're a novice or have some familiarity with AI, this session will enhance your understanding of AI and set you up for a successful journey.
Skills and Tools in the Age of AI, Part 1
Dive into the world of artificial intelligence (AI) and discover how it can enrich your teaching experience. Our session is a hands-on exploration with generative AI tools including text-to-image and text-to-text. Our goal is not just to introduce you to AI but to be a guide in thinking about when and how to incorporate these exciting tools into your teaching practices. Whether AI is a new concept for you or you have limited prior knowledge, we're here to support you in your journey.
AI Societal Impacts, Part 1
This series dives into how AI is reshaping society. We'll start by unpacking the concept of data, the fuel for AI, and exploring its ethical implications. We'll discuss the digital divide to understand how access to AI can create educational disparities. Finally, we'll tackle the growing issue of misinformation and disinformation, equipping educators with strategies to navigate this complex world.
