The AI Education Project ("aiEDU," "we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our website at aiedu.org and use our services (collectively, the "Services").

1. Who We Are
aiEDU is a nonprofit organization that develops and publishes artificial intelligence literacy curriculum, professional development programs, and educational resources for K-12 educators and administrators. Our audience is adult professionals working in education, including teachers, curriculum specialists, and district administrators. We do not work directly with students who are minors, and our services are not designed for, marketed to, or intended for use by children.
Accessing Our Services and Content
An account is required to enroll in our professional development programs and to access certain member or client resources. We do not support social or federated account login, and instead all accounts require a separate email and password. General educational content and resources on our website are freely accessible without creating an account.

2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide
Identifiers: When you register for an account, download resources, enroll in programs, or contact us, we may collect your name, email address, and mailing address.
Professional Information: When you enroll in programs such as Trailblazers or Spark the Future, or download resources, we may collect your role or title, school name, district, grades and subjects taught, and location.
Audio/Visual Information: If you participate in our programs, we may collect your headshot, bio, and Zoom session recordings and transcripts.
Financial Information: If you receive a stipend through our programs, payment information is processed directly by Ramp. aiEDU does not store your financial data.
User-Generated Content: If you post in forums, provide feedback, or respond to surveys, we collect that content.
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
Internet Activity: We automatically collect information about your interactions with our website, including pages visited, time on page, click behavior, navigation patterns, and referring or exit pages. This data is collected through Google Analytics and Squarespace Analytics.
Device Information: We collect your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device type, and screen resolution through cookies and similar technologies.
Geolocation: We collect general location information (city, state, or country level only) based on your IP address.
2.3 Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We use first-party cookies through Google Analytics and Squarespace for analytics and performance purposes. These are non-advertising cookies. Our website does not respond to “Do Not Track” browser signals. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
2.4 Data Minimization
We collect only the personal information necessary to provide our services and fulfill our educational mission. We do not collect additional information beyond what is required for each specific purpose, and we do not use personal information for purposes unrelated to the reason it was collected.

AI Service Providers. We may use artificial intelligence tools to support content development and administrative operations. These providers receive information we submit in the course of using their services. We select AI service providers based on their secure and legal data handling practices, including minimal or zero data retention policies and a prohibition on model training with our data.
All service providers listed above are contractually obligated to use personal information only for the purposes of providing services to aiEDU and to maintain appropriate security measures to protect your data.
4.2 Aggregated and De-Identified Data
We may share aggregated or de-identified data with partners, funders, and researchers for evaluation and reporting purposes. This data cannot reasonably be used to identify you. We maintain technical safeguards and contractual provisions prohibiting re-identification.
4.3 Legal Requirements
We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or government request. We will attempt to notify you before such disclosure unless prohibited by law.
4.4 Business Transfers
If aiEDU merges with or is acquired by another organization, your information may be transferred. The successor organization will be bound by this Privacy Policy.

aiEDU does not sell your personal information. We do not share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

6. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)
aiEDU's Services are designed for educators, not children. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13.

7. Student Data
aiEDU provides professional development and curriculum resources to educators. We do not collect student education records, grades, or academic performance data.
When students appear in aiEDU media productions (such as videos featuring classroom instruction), we obtain consent in advance directly from parents or guardians through media release agreements. Student names collected through media releases are:
Used solely for consent documentation purposes

Stored securely and retained only as long as necessary
8. Data Retention
We retain personal data only for as long as required to engage in the uses described in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required by applicable law. The criteria used to determine our retention periods include the following:
The length of time we have an ongoing relationship with you and provide aiEDU products and services to you (for example, for as long as you have an account with us or keep using our products);

10. User-Generated Content
If you submit content to our website (such as forum posts or feedback), you grant aiEDU a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, display, and reproduce that content for educational and promotional purposes related to our mission. You may request removal of your user-generated content by contacting privacy@aiedu.org.
Community Forums
Participants enrolled in aiEDU professional development programs may be granted access to a community platform where they can post comments and interact with other program participants. This platform is accessible only to enrolled program participants, not the general public. Posts made within this platform are visible to other enrolled participants and to aiEDU staff. Our team moderates community content to ensure it aligns with our community standards. If you wish to request removal of content you have posted, contact privacy@aiedu.org.
