New: Version 2.0

AI Readiness Framework

What students, educators, and leaders need to know to build AI Readiness and meet the moment.

Building AI Readiness is one of the defining challenges of the future of education.

Teachers and schools must take an all-of-the-above to build AI Readiness, developing soft skills, core content skills, and AI literacy. To do that, they need support to find the balance to teach them all, and teach them well.

The second version of aiEDU’s AI Readiness Framework incorporates research from the Burning Glass Institute to deliver a comprehensive guide for teachers, school leaders, and districts to build AI Readiness.

It also frames the challenge ahead for
K-12 education. In order to live, work, and thrive in a world with AI, students will need a range of foundational learning and the ability to direct and assess AI tools.

That work starts here.

AI Readiness Framework

Built with students at the center

aiEDU’s Readiness Framework is built with 4 essential components:

  • Student Competencies

  • Educator Competencies

  • A rubric for School Leaders

  • A rubric for School Districts

Each is designed toward a shred vision with the student at the center of AI Readiness.

For these groups, the framework is a ready-to-use resource and a clear path for districts to set up schools, schools to set up teachers, and teachers to set up students.

Progressing to AI Readiness

To build our AI Readiness Framework, aiEDU looked to multiple perspectives and research.

Our approach is built on a progression of learning to drive AI Readiness: From knowing the basics, to being a critical thinker, to ultimately leading with the human advantage.

A concept underpinning the future of learning

Defining AI Readiness

We define AI Readiness as the ability and underlying skills to apply AI to one’s personal and professional endeavors.

A person is AI Ready when they understand the interdisciplinary impacts of AI. They can then apply their human advantage with evolving technology and leverage collaboration, creativity and self-advocacy alongside AI to achieve their life and career potential.
