The AI Innovation Fellowship from aiEDU and the Urban Assembly
Today, we’ve teamed up with the Urban Assembly (UA) to launch the AI Innovation Fellowship, a hands-on professional development program to help educators use AI to solve everyday challenges in their classrooms.
This fellowship is a great opportunity to bring teachers together to tackle real classroom issues, and we’re proud to team up with the Urban Assembly and create more ways for educators to build AI readiness.
The 10-week fellowship brings together teacher teams from UA schools to identify common education hurdles (Lesson planning, assessment design, and administrative tasks, etc.) and test how AI tools can help address them. Throughout the fellowship, the teams will collaborate across schools to share what works and document practical use cases that can be adapted by other educators. The fellowship also emphasizes responsible use by helping teachers understand the limits of AI and how to apply these tools thoughtfully with students.
By springtime, AI Innovation Fellows will leave with tested strategies they can continue to adapt as technology evolves. This initiative reflects both of our organizations' commitment to ensuring that AI serves to amplify human expertise rather than replace the indispensable elements of effective teaching.
