Building AI Readiness in Minnesota: aiEDU supports professional development in Red Wing

RED WING, MINNESOTA — The AI Education Project (aiEDU) joined a professional learning workshop at Red Wing High School last week to help school staff build AI Readiness and become better acquainted with AI’s use cases in the classroom.

aiEDU Senior Programs Lead LeNard Pitts spoke and helped lead the workshop. The session was facilitated by Red Wing Principal Joshua Fuchs and Director of Teaching & Learning Emily Seefeldt.

Red Wing High School also recently received a grant through aiEDU’s Rural & Indigenous Community Catalyst Program.

The goal of last week’s session was to build a clearer vision and deeper commitment toward growing AI literacy across the school district. Teachers and administrators spent the day exploring how educators can root their work in purpose while also embracing the new possibilities that AI brings to teaching and learning.

Pitts said he was encouraged by the efforts he saw from Red Wing district officials.

“Red Wing is building something real,” he said. “Their AI education initiative is driven by values, shaped by community, and focused on what’s possible. I’m thankful to be part of the work and excited to see what they create next.”
